The 82C607 Multifunction Controller incorporates a single channel
UART, an analog floppy disk data separator and the host interface
logic compatible with IBM PS/2 model 50, 60, and 80 personal comp-
uters. The UART is functionally compatible to NS16650 Asynchronous
Communications Element. The data separator contains a self-calibrated
analog phase locked loop (PLL), write precompensation circuit, and the
logic interface to the industry standard 765A/765B/8272A floppy disk
controller. it supports three standard data rates: 250K, 300K, and
500k bits per second, each selectable by software.
Together with 765A/765B/8272A, the 82C607 provides a very cost
effective and high performance implementation for the serial port and
the floppy disk sub-system for systems compatible to the P8/2
environment.
The 82C607 is implemented using advanced CMOS technology; available in
68 pin PLCC or 80 pin Flat Pack packages.

The SiS5596/5513 with built-in VGA controller is a two-chip solution
for Pentium PCI/ISA system. A portion of on board DRAM is shared with
the built-in VGA controller. In that way, the system cost is
substantially reduced.
The SiS5596/5513 two chips solution for shared memory architecture is
achieved by allowing both GUI / VGA, and System DRAM controller to
control system memory. For the shared memory application, the chipset
always acts as the arbiter of memory bus masters. Whenever the GUI
wants to access the memory bus, it requests the memory bus from the
chipset first. The chipset grants the memory bus to the GUI, only if
the memory bus is not needed by the chipset. The chipset also supports
the two priority scheme. Other important key features such as direct
access frame buffer and memory access latency are also supported.
