The EM595 PCMCIA Adapter ---------------------------------------- You can take advantage of Predictive Pipelining, Cogent's innovative data transfer technology, by using eMASTER+ adapters in both the client and server computers. Refer to your EM595 PCMCIA User Manual for information about using Predictive Pipelining between your PCMCIA portable computer and your network server. eMASTER+ Setup Program ---------------------------------------- The eMASTER+ Setup Program requires MS-DOS version 3.3 or later. Before running Diagnostics in the eMASTER+ Setup Program, make sure no network drivers are running in the system. To run Diagnostics on one or more adapters, the adapters must be installed in machines located on a private network. Card and Socket Services ---------------------------------------- The eMASTER+ Setup Program makes installing Card and Socket Services easy. The eMASTER+ Setup Program installs the appropriate files and automatically edits your configuration files. If you have other PCMCIA adapters, however, you may need to change these configuration files yourself. Refer to the Card and Socket Services manual included in your EM595 PCMCIA package for information about installing non-eMASTER+ PCMCIA adapters. Using PCMCIA Memory Devices ---------------------------------------- The Card and Socket Services memory card driver, PCDISK, may conflict with your network operating system's drive redirector. When it loads, PCDISK reserves the first available DOS drive letters. The conflict arises when your network redirector tries to use the same drive letters PCDISK has already reserved. There are two ways to resolve this conflict: (1) use another drive letter for the network redirector, or (2) comment out the PCDISK line in CONFIG.SYS as follows: rem device=pcdisk.exe Note that by removing PCDISK from your configuration, you will not be able to use PC cards as file storage devices.
