EISA Configuration Utility - Version 2.00 American Megatrends, Inc. Release Notes January 29, 1993 This document outlines the new features that were added and bugs that were fixed in Version 2.00 of AMIECU. The previous version of AMIECU was 1.4c which was released on 7/14/92. Most of the changes to the ECU are related to overlay file support. Overlay files were added to the EISA Specification in version 3.12 of that document. - AMIECU now supports Overlay files as outlined by version 3.12 of the EISA specification. Overlay files are also known as "OVL" files or "CFG File Extensions." - Several command line switches are now recognized by AMIECU. Type CFG /? to view a list of valid switches. - Users can now view HELP statements for a function by pressing F1 while changing the settings of the function. - An improved virtual memory / paging system allows an unlimited number of CFG files to be loaded without running out of memory. - A checksum is now computed for each CFG file so the ECU can detect when a CFG file has been replaced by a different version. In this case any previous settings will be ignored. - CFG files having complex INIT statements LINKed to MEMORY blocks now work properly. - CFG files that use multi-valued INIT statements with ORed values inside a FREE resource group are now initialized according to the selection in the resource immediately preceding the INIT statement. - CFG files that use 16 bit and 32 bit wide IOPORT INITs now are handled correctly. - IOPORT statements are no longer limited to 16 per CFG file. - The view switch/jumper window is no longer limited to 255 lines. - CFG files that use switch and jumper labels longer than the 10 character limit specified by the EISA spec will now be parsed without errors. - CFG files that specify very large address ranges (i.e. 4GB) in a MEMORY resource statement are now handled correctly. - Connection statements are now displayed properly on the screens in Step 5. - CFG files that specify memory regions of size zero are now handled properly. - System board CFG files that specify a cachabilty map are now handled properly. - The CFG file strings "OTH" and "OTHER" are now interchangeable. - Embedded slots and embedded devices are now configured correctly. - The CFG file statements BEGINOVL and ENDOVL are now supported. - CFG files with LINKed resource groups that contain only a multi-valued INIT statement that is set by overlays now work properly. - CFG files that specify a text string after the slot type are now handled properly. - CFG files that load other CFG files using the INCLUDE statement now work properly. - The ECU now handles system boards whose physical slot positions do not match logical slot addresses. - CFG files for virtual devices are now handled correctly.
